Wedding couple sharing a kiss under an umbrella outside a Norfolk wedding venue

One of the questions couples often ask is: “When should we book our wedding photographer or videographer?”

The honest answer is: whenever you are starting to consider photography or videography.

That might be two years before your wedding, next year, or only a few weeks away. You do not need to have every part of your wedding planned before getting in touch. If the date is free in my calendar, I am always happy to jump in and have a conversation.

You may not have the full timeline, colour scheme, final guest numbers or every supplier confirmed yet. That is completely normal. Wedding plans often grow and change over time.

You do not need to have everything sorted

Some couples wait until they feel their wedding is fully planned before enquiring. But from my side, I would much rather talk to you earlier.

Even if you do not have every detail finalised, it is still useful to know:

  • the year you are planning for
  • the rough location or area
  • whether you are thinking about photography or videography
  • the kind of day you would like
  • whether you want relaxed coverage, natural moments and gentle guidance

If you already have a date and venue, brilliant. If you are still choosing between dates or venues, that is fine too.

The earlier we talk, the easier it is to work out what kind of coverage might suit your day. But if things are moving quickly, it is still always worth asking.

It is never too early, but it is not always too late either

Some popular dates, especially summer Saturdays and bank holiday weekends, can be booked well in advance. My diary is currently open for 2027 and 2028 weddings, and I also have a few 2026 dates still available.

But if your wedding is sooner than that, it is still worth asking.

Sometimes couples are planning quickly, changing plans, or realise later that they would love photography or film after all. If I have the date free, I am always happy to jump in.

So whether your wedding is next week, next year, or a couple of years away, you are welcome to get in touch.

Photography or videography?

At Nimble, I offer wedding photography or wedding videography, but not both at the same wedding myself.

That is because each one deserves proper attention. If I am photographing your day, I want to be fully focused on the photographs. If I am filming your day, I want to be fully focused on the movement, sound, speeches, atmosphere and story of the film.

However, I work with and know many brilliant photographers and videographers, so if you are looking for both, I can recommend people who may be a good fit for your day.

That way, you still get a strong team around you without one person trying to do everything at once.

What should you send when you enquire?

You do not need to send a perfect message. A few simple details are enough to start with.

It helps to include:

  • your wedding date, if you have one
  • your venue, or the area you are looking at
  • whether you are interested in photography or videography
  • which package you are considering, if you know
  • anything important about the feel of your day
  • any worries you have about being photographed or filmed

If you are camera shy, nervous about posing or unsure what you need, you can say that too. A lot of couples feel the same way.

Whether your wedding is next week, next year, or a couple of years away, it is always worth asking.

It is really just a conversation

Getting in touch does not mean you are committing to anything straight away.

It is simply a chance to tell me about your plans, ask questions and see whether Nimble feels like the right fit for you.

My approach is relaxed, calm and low-pressure. I am not here to turn your wedding into a photoshoot or make you perform for the camera. I want the experience to feel natural and comfortable, while still making sure you have photographs or film that bring the day back to you properly.

Planning for 2026, 2027 or 2028?

My diary is open for 2027 and 2028 weddings, and I still have a few 2026 dates available.

If you are planning further ahead, brilliant — we can start talking early.

If your wedding is coming up sooner, that is fine too. If the date is free in my calendar, I am always happy to help.

Tell me your date if you have one, your venue or rough plans, and whether you are looking for photography or videography. I would love to hear what you are planning.
